If trim is being placed on the cabinet doors that are lying flat the trim should be covered with a plastic wrap.

The first problem was that there was no lip on the cabinet in which to add molding.
This will assure the bond is firm.
Remove all the hardware from the cabinet doors.
Then it s time to fill in all the holes and gaps with wood filler or spackling paste.
Remove your cabinet doors and place all hardware screws in a ziploc baggy.
We built a frame that would sit on top of the cabinet and that we could attach the trim to the frame above the cabinet.
The frame measures the exact same size as the sides and front of the cabinet.
If it is a wooden trim simply nail it to the cabinet.
As the doors ended so did the top of the cabinet.
And i know i would go positively cuckoo with a kitchen of naked cabinets and all the drawer stuff all over the house so i decided to split this up into the span of what became three days.
Cut two of the plywood strips to the height of the door and apply wood glue to the backside of each.
You can attach it to the edges around the perimeter or flat on the face of the door.
Place a weight on it and leave it for 10 to 12 hours.
Set up your doors on saw horses or somewhere easy to move around them on all sides.
After adding the trim pieces to all the cabinet doors sand the edges of the trim to make everything even.
One day i was waiting at the paint counter at lowe s there was a bucket of yardsticks and i was thinking that i should buy wood trim that size because it s exactly the look i had in mind flat shaker style and the width of the boards were still small enough for the tiny drawers.
I used clorox wipes which did the trick and got all the dirt and grime.
Sand the doors lightly to remove any dirt and gloss from the old finish.
This step completes the addition of trim to the kitchen.
Clean your cabinet doors.
The higher the better so you aren t bending down and killing your back.
